Travertine is a form of limestone deposited by mineral springs, especially hot springs. Travertine stone often has a fibrous or concentric appearance and exists in white, tan, cream-colored, and even rusty varieties. It is formed by a process of rapid precipitation of calcium carbonate, often at the mouth of a hot spring or in a limestone cave.
Travertine is a terrestrial sedimentary rock, formed by the precipitation of carbonate minerals from solution in ground and surface waters, and/or geothermally heated hot-springs.
Price of Travertine stone:
The price of travertine rocks depends on the following factors:
1 – Quality and stone analysis
The most important parameter of rock quality is the physical and chemical analysis of the rock. The higher the quality of stone analysis, the higher the price.
2 – Quality grade
The quality of stone is very important in determining its price.
3 – Different colors and designs
Travertine stones do not have much color variation. The lighter and whiter the light and white the more regular the stones are, the more popular they are.
4 – The amount of rock porosity
This stones are characterized by pores and pores. But the lower the porosity, the higher the density of the rock, the better the readability of the rock, and the higher the price.
5- Diameter and dimensions of stone
Travertine stones are most commonly used in building facades and walls, and the facade should be restrained by a scoop to prevent the stone from falling. The thicker the stone, the higher the price. In Iran are mainly processed in 40 lengths.
6 – Precise stone sort
This stone have different types that are sub-sorted after the shear phase. The more precise and uniform the stone sort is, the higher the price.
7 – Type of stone processing
The type of stone processing plays a decisive role in the price. Resin or epoxy type, use of UV technology and so on
